By implementing the KAtuwang sa DIwa at GaWA (KADIWA) ni Ani at Kita Project in the region, Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON has continued to streamline institutional measures for unimpeded access to quality and affordable agri-fishery products. As of July 17, 2020, the project benefitted a total of 81,739 households through DA’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division.
Since its formal launch on September 13, 2019, the regional office has ensured that the project will not only focus on providing quality, affordable, and accessible agricultural commodities; it will also increase the agricultural production of the region as additional, direct market opportunities are offered to small farmers and fisherfolk.
DA CALABARZON has developed four (4) modalities for the implementation of KADIWA project namely: KADIWA ni Ani at Kita on Wheels, KADIWA ni Ani at Kita Retail Selling, KADIWA ni Ani at Kita online platforms, and KADIWA ni Ani at Kita Diskwento Caravan.
A collaborative undertaking between farmers’ organizations, institutional buyers, local government units, and private sector, KADIWA was able to generate a total sales value of P19,859,659.58 and 21 farmer-assisted groups.
In addition, DA will also launch “Enhanced KADIWA ni Ani at Kita Inclusive Food Supply Chain Program,” in which the Department will implement appropriate interventions for high consumer demand areas, especially for the poor and low-income families aimed at strengthening and improving multi-sectoral participation in the food supply distribution system in the region. • (SDAL, DA-RAFIS)
