“It is very important for us to determine the progress and effectiveness of our programs, projects, services, interventions, and activities implemented and being implemented in the current year within your province (Quezon)…We have to gauge whether the outcomes of our efforts are really concentrated on accomplishing its deliverables and outputs,” said Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, Regional HVCDP Focal Person and concurrent Officer-In-Charge-Chief of the Operations Division.

She added that the results of this activity can give the Department an understanding on what actions it should take afterwards as these will also help the Program in aligning and implementing its plans and projects for the next few years.

Thus, to achieve these objectives, different presentations were done where participants drew comments and suggestions such as 1) monitoring forms for technology demonstrations of vegetable, banana-saba, and cacao productions, 2) rehabilitation and rejuvenation programs for mango, coffee and cacao trees, 3) monthly and quarterly accomplishment reports on planting and harvesting, 4) expanded monthly agricultural and fishery situation reports, 5) general guidelines on the provision of agricultural production, postharvest, and processing machinery and equipment, 6) HVCDP allocation for Quezon province, 7) updates on monitoring and reporting of plant pests and diseases, and 8) geo-tagging and simple mapping of areas monitored.

Provincial commodity focal persons also reported their accomplishments during the past few quarters and shared the success stories of high value crops farmers in the province highlighting the positive impact of DA-HVCDP interventions given through the office of the provincial agriculturist.

Some 70 agricultural extension workers attended and actively participated during the discussions of this two-day event.
