Employees of Lipa Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (LARES) harvested 20 kilograms of radish on June 9, 2020, almost a month after another batch of seedlings had been planted in the Batangas office.

Since the implementation of enhanced community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LARES staff have planted vegetable seeds. As a result, cash crops such as pechay and radish have already been harvested and distributed among its employees.

“The office shall continue its urban gardening initiatives – the preparation of vegetable plots, the transfer of seedlings, and other related activities, in continuous support of the Department of Agriculture’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program,” according to LARES Officer-In-Charge-Superintendent Cynthia D. Leycano.

The Plant, Plant, Plant Program aims to ensure that the nation has access to sufficient, nutritious, and fresh food items through the distribution of free vegetable seeds and inputs. • (SDAL, DA-RAFIS)
