The Department of Agriculture IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A), led by Assistant Secretary for Operations and Regional Executive Director Engr. Arnel V. de Mesa, joined the groundbreaking ceremony and witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of the United Batangas Swine Raiser’s Association Inc. (UNIBAT) Boar Farm and Artificial Insemination (AI) Center on April 4, 2022, at Brgy. Catandala, Ibaan, Batangas.
This project of the UNIBAT is in agreement with the Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry and the Local Government of Ibaan, Batangas. The boar farm and AI laboratory will secure a strong foundation of hogs and fast-track the repopulation program in relation to the African swine fever effect in the hog industry in Batangas.
DA-4A will be providing technical assistance in the site validation, monitoring of construction, and inspection. Provision of other veterinary drugs and biologics including veterinary health services and prioritization of biosecurity measures for the projects and promotion on social media and other platforms are part of DA 4A’s assistance as well.
Asec. de Mesa congratulated the UNIBAT for the realization of the said project with support from the United States Department of Agriculture and Winrock International.
“Asahan po ninyo ang patuloy na pagsuporta ng Kagawaran sa mga proyektong malaki ang pakinabang sa ating hog raisers dito sa rehiyon,” Asec. de Mesa said.
