IN PHOTOS: A simple turnover ceremony of solar-powered irrigation system (SPIS) unit to Terra Verde Ecofarm was held on February 7, 2020 at Brgy. Pantihan II, Maragondon, Cavite.
The ceremony was led by Regional Corn Program Coordinator, Ms. Avelita M. Rosales with Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) of Cavite, Ms. Eda F. Dimapilis; Regional Agricultural Engineering Division Chief, Mr. Marcos C. Aves, Sr.; and Mr. Reynan Nieves, a representative of Mr. Ericson L. Atanacio, President of Terra Verde Ecofarm.
The 7.5-kW SPIS can irrigate 5 hectares of farm land.
The SPIS will mainly support demo farm being managed by the Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON inside Terra Verde and nearby farms with planted corn, sorghum, and other high-value crops.
According to APCO Dimapilis, the demo farm serves as show window for farmers and agriculture students. ● (NRB, DA-RAFIS)
