Being one of the top three finalists for the search for the National Outstanding Fruits/Plantation Crops Farmer, Paulino H. Sulibit of Brgy. Ibabang Palina, Liliw, Laguna was visited by the national technical committee (NTC) of the said category on August 10, 2018 to conduct field validation and final evaluation with him.
The NTC considered three major areas in evaluating Sulibit to wit: the farmer (his management and technical skills, decision making, innovativeness, value adding), the farm (its condition, yield, return on investment, sustainability, replicability, certification/s), and the social impact (his contribution/involvement to/in the community, impact of his farm and technology on the community).
Regional Gawad Saka Focal Person and Regional Information Officer Patria T. Bulanhagui, Regional High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) Coordinator Redelliza A. Gruezo, Regional Gawad Saka Alternate Focal Person Rosalinda B. Alonsozana, staff of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and the Agricultural Program Coordinating Office (APCO), and Liliw Municipal Mayor Ericson J. Sulibit were present during the activity to assist the NTC and show support to the region’s nominee.
This search gives due recognition to a farmer who is engaged in the production and marketing of fruits/plantation crops.
