The Department of Agriculture (DA-4A) conducted a series of data gathering through farmers’ interviews and geo-referencing of clustered rice areas in San Juan, Batangas, and Morong, Rizal on March 8-11, 2022.

The data gathered will be used to systematically generate useful information for farmers via Rice Crop Manager (RCM).

RCM is an optimized digital agriculture web-based application for improved crop and farm data management. It provides field-specific crop and nutrient management recommendations to farmers for their rice fields through a one-page printout and text messages.

Mr. Augusto Ferrer, a hybrid rice farmer, is excited to see what RCM can contribute to his production.

โ€œIโ€™m grateful that I could be part of this technology and Iโ€™m positive that this will definitely help in improving my production,โ€ Mr. Ferrer said.

To date, there are a total of 10,040 RCM-registered rice farmers, 16,098 farm lots, and 3,994.86 hectares verified areas in the system.

According to Ms. Chillina A. Penamora, DA-4A Rice Program Agriculturist, the data gathering will continue with the help of local government units to maximize the use of RCM and to benefit more rice farmers.
