DA, BAR distribute caraheifers, agri inputs to Batangas farmers

Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON, in coordination with the DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), distributed five caraheifers to five farmer-cooperators from Brgy. Quilo-quilo South, Padre Garcia, Batangas on October 1, 2020. The activity is part of the implementation of the DA-BAR-funded research project entitled Community-based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) on Rice Farming System in Padre Garcia, in collaboration with the Regional Livestock Program.

In addition to livestock intervention, agricultural inputs like vegetable seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides have also been distributed during the activity. This is to ensure the availability of resources for the production of vegetables during the coming dry season.

Mayor Celsa B. Rivera thanked the regional office for its continued support for the development and progress of local farmers and municipal agriculture as a whole.

“I would like to express my utmost appreciation to the Padre Garcia farmers for their untiring efforts to support the local community’s need to grow food and expand the market through integrated crop and livestock production,” the mayor added.

One of the farmer-cooperators also shared his gratitude to DA for the assistance and projects implemented in their community. He said that it is not always the case that the government has reached every corner of their town, distributing much-needed inputs for agricultural production. ● (MAP, DA-RAFIS)
