Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON supported the project brief entitled “Masaganang Ani, Malaking Kita sa Gulayan at Prutas,” a season-long, hands-on training program proposal by signing the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Harbest Agribusiness Corporation on June 22, 2020, held in Quezon City.
Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa, Rizal Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (RARES) Head Eduardo R. Lalas, and Harbest President Arsenio Go Barcelona, fastened the agreement aimed at improving small farmers’ livelihoods by conducting modern and doable agricultural technology training.
Ms. Vilma M. Dimaculangan, Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulations and Livestock Program Coordinator; Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, Field Operations Division Chief and High Value Crops Development Program Coordinator; and Ms. Avelita M. Rosales, Research Division Chief and Corn Program Coordinator, witnessed the signing.
As written in the MOA, DA CALABARZON will help plan participants’ orientation and participation from nearby local government units, manage training facilities, and include one hectare of land to be used for planting activities.
Director de Mesa is positive about the project and recognizes the training’s potential to increase local farmers’ income and livelihood opportunities in CALABARZON. โ (JAPE, DA-RAFIS)
