Under its financial subsidy to rice farmers program, Department of Agriculture (DA) CALABARZON, in coordination with the city and municipal agriculture offices in Quezon, has started giving away P5,000 for each farmer.

According to Mr. Rolando P. Cuasay, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) in Quezon, a total of 5,979 rice farmers would benefit from the program to support their farming or personal needs, especially during this COVID-19 quarantine period.

Over the week, 3,234 farmers from 23 cities and municipalities including Tayabas City, Lucena City, Burdeos, Infanta, Lucban, Pagbilao, Panukulan, Polillo, Real, Agdangan, Buenavista, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Padre Burgos, Pitogo, Unisan, Atimonan, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Lopez, Perez, and Plaridel have already claimed their cash subsidies.

There are 16 more areas in the province that will receive the same subsidy later this month, with 2,745 rice farmer-beneficiaries. ● (JAPE, DA-RAFIS)
