As one of the government member institutions of the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC), the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV CALABARZON joined this year’s Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) held on February 20 – 22, 2018 in Lucena City, Quezon.
One of the highlights of the event was the Appreciation Night wherein the DA CALABARZON, which was represented by Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulations Elmer T. Ferry, received a certificate of recognition.
A symbolic token was also given to each of the four cluster winners wherein CALABARZON’s Perla D. Escaba of Escaba Sweets and Brian A. Belen of Ato Belen’s Farm, both from San Pablo City, Laguna, were the ones awarded for agriculture and technology transfer clusters, respectively.
They were recognized because of their significant contributions to research, development, and extension in the region.
FIESTA is a strategy that gathers farmers, investors, processors, traders, and consumers to exchange knowledge and business solutions.
This was held in partnership with the Provincial Government of Quezon, Southern Luzon State University, and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).
DA CALABARZON Chief Administrative Officer Felix I. Ramos and Regional Information Officer Patria T. Bulanhagui also attended the event.
