Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV CALABARZON joins the 14th Philippine Food Expo organized by the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization, Incorporated (PhilFoodex) held at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City last April 20-22, 2018 with a theme “Emerging trends in Food Trade”.

With the help of Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) of DA CALABARZON, SINLIKAS Importer/Exporter Packaging, Incorporated from Lipa City, Batangas that sells bottled extract of fruit juice and puree, and Fenor Food Products that exports their raw materials from the region and sells dried fish and squids and purple yam were selected to represent DA CALABARZON.

With the rapid growth of the economy and the inevitable change in consumption and demand, Roberto Amores, President of PhilFoodex said that the need to have the platform to address all the emerging trends in agriculture and food has never been stronger. He also emphasized that the efforts to promote local products and exports have begun to elevate both in the local and international stage as well.

In the absence of Senator Cynthia Villar, the Chairperson for the Senate Committee of Agriculture and Food, her daughter Camille Villar-Genuino, President of Vista Land and Lifescapes, Incorporated graced the event to deliver her mother’s speech. She said that Senator Villar is committed to propose laws that are directly practical and beneficial to the farmers and fishers of our country.
Undersecretary Ariel T. Cayanan of DA also supported the event and with Amores, they visited booths set up by different regions of DA.

The event intends to secure food availability and food security offered seminars which include Franchising Opportunities in the Philippines, ASPIRE: Agribusiness Support for Promotion of Investments in Regional Expositions, and Renewable Energy in Food Manufacturing.

This year’s food expo was attended by representatives from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), ambassadors of different country, and different exhibitors from different regions, and commercial businessmen.
