Some 30 representatives from every division/section/office of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV CALABARZON participated in the celebration of Women’s Month in CALABARZON at Jose P. Rizal Memorial School in Calamba City, Laguna on March 20, 2018.
The event that started with a parade from Calamba City Science High School to the venue was attended by state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the region, schools division offices, and other regional government agencies such as Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and many more.
Department of Education (DepEd) CALABARZON Assistant Regional Director Dr. Francis Cesar B. Bringas denoted the significance of women through his welcoming speech. He also said that celebrating women’s month does not end this month and it should always be in our hearts.
Likewise, Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Deputy Director Kristine Balmes insisted the strong implementation of Magna Carta of Women in her keynote message. She also encouraged every local government unit (LGU) to reach out to grassroots of the community through the “Serbisyo para kay Juana” – a project by PCW – to give importance to women.
The event also had talk show about stories of inspiring women, poster making contest, film showing for students, art exhibits, “Juana Got Talent” and performances as tribute to all women.
These were all organized by the DepEd CALABARZON.
