The Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON conducted a consultation with the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in the region on April 12, 2019 at the STIARC Hall in Lipa City, Batangas with the aim to solicit relevant inputs from them in relation to the crafted 2020 budget proposal of the former.
A CSO is a group of people which operates in the community in a way that is distinct from both government and business.
For the region, the CSO is mainly composed of the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Councils of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon and various farmers’ groups.
Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa presented, among others, the regional office’s vision, mission, programs, priority projects, and its proposed FY 2020 budget.
“Engaging the CSOs is very vital for the success of our projects not only during budgeting but also during the planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation,” Regional Director de Mesa said.
An open-forum was conducted immediately after the presentation wherein suggestions were noted and questions were properly addressed by the Regional Director de Mesa with Assistant Regional Director for Research and Regulations Elmer Ferry and OIC-Assistant Regional Director for Operations Dennis Arpia. • RFL
