About 130 members and would-be members of Beekeepers’ Network (BEENET) Philippines Foundation, Inc. Luzon Chapter gathered together on April 10, 2019 at STIARC Training Hall in Lipa City, Batangas to discuss and share knowledge and information on bees and beekeeping; perform inventory of bee location, holdings, and products; and increase and advance the membership of BEENET Luzon.

Ms. Vilma M. Dimaculangan, Regional Livestock Coordinator and Integrated Laboratory Division Chief of the Department of Agriculture (DA) CALABARZON thanked each and every one for actively promoting and advancing for the bee industry to grow by coordinating with the government like DA and other organizations to help increase their knowledge and develop their practice in beekeeping in protecting and preserving the bees.

“In behalf of our Regional Executive Director Arnel de Mesa, the DA will continue to give its full support in your effort to help develop the agriculture sector as much as possible,” Ms. Dimaculangan said in her discussion of the DA’s support to beekeeping industry.

The congress also aimed to encourage and inform the members and the public for the upcoming 25th National BEENET Conference and Technofora on July 24 – 26 at LIMA Park Hotel in Malvar, Batangas.

Bees are critical pollinators and they pollinate 70 of around 100 crop species that feed 90% of the world. Bees keep plants and crops alive. Without bees, human would not have very much to eat. • ARC
