Under the Department of Agriculture (DA)’s Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra COVID-19 Program, DA CALABARZON’s Organic Agriculture Research and Development Center (OARDC) distributed a total of 175 packs of native pork tapa and longanisa, produced by VFNR Agricultural Farm & First Nasugbu Natural Farmers Association and MSK-MASINOP to frontliners in Gumaca, Quezon on October 13, 2020 and November 6, 2020 in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Funded by DA-Bureau of Agricultural Research, this activity is part of the Research Division’s initiative called the “Commercialization of developed meat products from organically-grown native pig in Batangas and Quezon provinces”. This upscaling project aims to contribute in increasing availability of food supply for Filipinos and to generate income for marginal farming communities through expansion of livelihood of native pig raisers in CALABARZON. Part of the initiative is to supply our frontliners with quality meat products as they continue to fight the spread of COVID-19, and to show them that DA supports their heroic battle against the current pandemic.

Some of the recipients of the said activity were frontliners from Ospital ng Nasugbu, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, Rural Health Unit, and the Philippine National Police in Nasugbu; and frontliners from Gumaca District Hospital in Gumaca. (MAP, DA-RAFIS)
