Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) in partnership with Lagalag Elementary School initiated the Tree Planting activity on September 4, 2019 in QARES compound, Tiaong, Quezon.

The activity aimed to increase awareness of the students towards climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as food security through massive planting of fruit-bearing trees.

Also, the activity provides awareness to the students as well as their parents engaging in agriculture regarding the services offered by the research station.

“Being students, you need to know your environmental duty. As such, we should be one in assisting our community in the protection of our natural resource. Tree planting is one activity that we should regularly undertake,” said Regional Information Officer Patria T. Bulanhagui.

QARES Officer-in-Charge Wilmer S. Faylon, Lagalag Elementary School Principal Ms. Estrella R. Dumas and Tree Planting Activity Chairperson Mr. Jefferson L. Dizon led the 107 elementary students in planting a total of 300 seedlings of rambutan and banana. ● JBGA, DA-RAFIS
