Implemented multiplier farms in CALABARZON, assessed

To determine the effectiveness of multiplier farms implemented in CALABARZON, a two-day assessment was conducted at Hotel Dominique in Tagaytay City on December 3-4, 2018 and was attended by some 50 participants.

Specifically, the activity aims to know the status of the project in several strategic areas in CALABARZON to have an inventory and be able to identify the next recipients in line; thus, to increase the number of farmer-recipients of quality pig and goat stocks, and improve its production in the region.

“A multiplier farm serves as the source of quality native pigs and goats which is being operated and maintained by qualified recipients who availed of the project. This is being done through partnership with local government units, farmers’ associations, cooperatives, organizations, learning sites that are accredited by Agricultural Training Institute, and relevant stakeholders,” said Vilma M. Dimaculangan, Regional Livestock Program Coordinator and concurrent Chief of Integrated Laboratory Division of the Department of Agriculture Region IV CALABARZON.

Topics about animal nutrition and mode of action, and forage and pasture were discussed.

The two-day activity was attended by recipients of multiplier farms from 2016 up to the present who are members of different associations of native pigs and goats in the region.
