IN PHOTOS: Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON Rice Program facilitates soil fertility training on January 13 – 14, 2021, at Southern Tagalog Integrated Agricultural Research Center (STIARC) Training Hall, in Lipa City, Batangas.
Dr. Dario M. Huelgas, Agriculturist II from Regional Soils Laboratory (RSL), served as the resource person and talked about soil science; physical, chemical, and microbiological properties; and fertilizer computation.
The activity was conducted following Secretary William D. Dar’s directive to test the soil of rice areas for proper fertilizer recommendation. This will also equip rice program technical personnel with their knowledge and competency on soil, collecting samples, and fertility evaluation.
Twenty-two DA CALABARZON personnel from the Rice Program, Agricultural Program Coordinating Offices in Batangas and Quezon assigned to rice program-related activities, and RSL underwent soil sampling, pH testing, and fertilizer recommendation exercises.
