More fresh and farm-grown produce at farm gate prices like vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, rice, and other agricultural products will also be available in other areas within CALABARZON through the “KADIWA on Wheels” of the Department of Agriculture (DA), to begin operating in a few weeks.

“We continue our efforts to provide nutritious food to the consuming public while at the same time provide opportunities for our farmers to market their products during this difficult period,” DA CALABARZON Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa said during a video conference with the management committee, and the provincial agriculturists and veterinarians on March 31, 2020.

He added that this activity is in response to Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar’s directive to keep food sufficient especially in areas affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

“Metropolitan areas in CALABARZON will be given priority where we will be deploying the ‘KADIWA on Wheels’,” Director de Mesa explained.

To date, “KADIWA on Wheels” is intended to roll out in the following proposed areas: Tagaytay City and other cities in Cavite; cities of San Pedro, Biñan, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna; cities of Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, Lipa, Batangas, and other urban parts of Batangas province; Antipolo City, Rizal; and Lucena City in Quezon.

DA CALABARZON, in collaboration with Chef José, San Jose Workers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative, and Batangas Organic and Natural Farming Association Cooperative, started conducting “KADIWA ni Ani at Kita” in Lipa City on March 27 (Brgy. Quezon), 28 (Brgy. Tambo), and 31 (Brgy. Inosluban). It was also held in Brgy. San Carlos yesterday.

For those who are interested in selling their produce or if there is an oversupply of agricultural products in your area due to quarantine measures, please contact DA CALABARZON Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division at amad_rfu4a@yahoo.com or your respective provincial and city/municipal agriculture offices to help you sell your products through “KADIWA on Wheels.” ● (ARC, DA-RAFIS)
