In the recently concluded election of officers of the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) in CALABARZON held at the Training Hall of Southern Tagalog Integrated Agricultural Research Center (STIARC), Mr. Pedrito R. Kalaw of Batangas bested two other contenders (Ms. Flordeliza Maleon of Quezon and Mr. Crispin Salvador of Laguna) to remain as the chairperson of the said council.
Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON Engr. Arnel V. de Mesa, in his inspirational message, particularly emphasized the need for a continued strong partnership between the government and the private sector in order to arrive at the desired accomplishment that will inure to the benefit of the people.
“We are here to serve the people. Let us try hard to do the best for our brethren. The private sector like the Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs) in the city/municipal and the provincial levels play an important role in the realization of our ultimate goal which is agricultural development. We in the government sector are one with you in the attainment of the same. Let us work hand in hand and rest assured of our continuous assistance,” Director de Mesa said.
Newly elected Mr. Kalaw will continue to serve for another three (3) years as the chairperson. Other elected officers include the following: Mr. Salvador (PAFC-Laguna) as Vice-Chairperson, Dr. Nellie Ilas (PAFC-Cavite) as Secretary, Joselito Eugenio as Treasurer, Gaudencio Genil (PAFC-Batangas) as Auditor, and Delmar Argosino as Public Relations Officer.
Director de Mesa led the swearing-in of all newly-elected officials. ●
