It was attended by the city/municipal mayors together with their respective city/municipal agriculturists of the cluster with the main objective of collecting their respective city/municipal food security plans and consolidate the same with the city/municipal food security plans from other clusters of the country (North Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao Clusters) to craft a viable national food security plan for the next five years (2019-2023) to ensure food sufficiency.
Each food security plan contains data pertaining to city/municipality’s population, food production potentials, interventions needed to increase food production, and priority areas where farm to market roads, small-scale irrigation, fish ports and post-harvest facilities are very much needed, to name a few.

In his speech, Secretary Manny F. Piñol emphasized that it is the job of every local leader to provide sufficient food for his constituents. Thus, the tagline for the summit “Mamamayan ko, Pakakainin ko!”.
“From self-reliant municipality, we can build a self-reliant country” he said.

As the Cluster Head, Regional Executive Director of DA IV-A Arnel V. de Mesa presented the cluster situationer of South Luzon.
