To improve the agriculture sector in the municipality of Magallanes, Cavite, Department of Agriculture Region IV CALABARZON (DA CALABARZON) Corn Program in cooperation with the Municipal Agriculturist Office conducted a training on operation and maintenance of corn agricultural machineries on rice mechanization and post-harvest facilities on September 18, 2019.
According to Magallanes Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Freddie D. Sisante, the training aimed to learn and familiarize the farmers on the operation of modern farm equipment to further increase productivity and cut the labor cost in production.
The municipal agriculturist believed that the mechanization program of the government is the answer to the farmers’ labor problems during production period.
Technical staff form Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) served as the resource person in the said training. Among the key topics discussed were the overview of the farm mechanization program, proper management practices in corn farming, and basic operation and maintenance of selected farm machinery. They also tackled the safety practices and procedures in machine operation.
