DA CALABARZON celebrates National Brown Rice Day

Employees of the Department of Agriculture Region IV CALABARZON celebrated the National Brown Rice Day on November 20, 2017 at RMIC Bldg., BPI Cmpd., Visayas Ave., Diliman, Quezon City in conjunction with the observance of the National Rice Awareness Month.

Regional Executive Director (RED) Arnel V. de Mesa in his inspirational message emphasized the importance of eating brown rice in relation to attaining rice sufficiency. He likewise enjoined each and every one to regularly eat brown rice because of its healthful benefits as well as it will help increase the income of farmers.

Rice Program Coordinator Engr. Enrique H. Layola delivered the rationale of the activity and discussed the growing numbers of the annual wastage and what the Filipinos could do to stop it. He also promoted the Pinggang Pinoy which recommends that each healthy meal should be composed of 33% rice, 33% vegetables, 17% meat, and 17% fruit.

Meanwhile, the employees enjoyed the event with parlor games and a boodle fight.
