The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON approved the operationalization proposal of San Jose Workers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SJWMPC) on June 17, 2020, at STIARC, Brgy. Maraouy, Lipa City, Batangas, for the continuity and sustainability of the implementation of the KADIWA ni Ani at Kita Project.
The undertaking was formally concluded by a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed between DA CALABARZON through Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa, Assistant Regional Director for Operations Dennis R. Arpia, and Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer in Batangas Fidel L. Libao; and SJWMPC through General Manager Emmanuel A. Munda and Project Head Cecille Aldueza-Virtucio.
Engr. Marcos C. Aves, Sr., Regional Agricultural Engineering Division Chief, and Ms. Ma. Ella Cecilia B. Obligado, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division Chief, witnessed the signing.
As stated in the MOA, DA CALABARZON shall provide technical assistance for the implementation of the KADIWA project and shall provide financial support for the acquisition of agricultural products by SJWMPC from farmers, fisherfolk, and farmers’ associations and cooperatives of a value of P2.5 million.
Director de Mesa recognizes the significant role played by farmers’ organizations and private sector cooperatives in the success of the ongoing implementation of the KADIWA project.
KADIWA ni Ani at Kita Project offers direct market links between farmers/agricultural cooperatives and buyers through organized community stores and online platforms. In this way, consumers will be guaranteed fresh, accessible, safe, and affordable food crops and commodities. • (SDAL, DA-RAFIS)
