Some 55 participants composing of farmers, entrepreneurs, and technicians attended the basic course on Swine Production Management and Artifical Insemination spearheaded by Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (QARES) of the Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON (DA CALABARZON), in cooperation with the Univet Nutrition and Animal Healthcare Company (UNAHCO), Inc. on July 17, 2019 at QARES Conference Hall in Tiaong, Quezon.

According to Mr. Wilmer S. Faylon, Officer-In-Charge of QARES, the free seminar aims to impart knowledge on new technologies on swine breeding and production, and swine artificial insemination among the participants to help them increase and improve the quality of their swine production.

Ms. Lou Denise-Marie U. Somera, a staff of DA-QARES Livestock Unit, discussed the guide on swine production and management, and artificial insemination. Mr. Alexander Umali, also a staff of DA-QARES Livestock Unit, demonstrated how to do the actual artificial insemination and encouraged the participants to try doing the same.

In the afternoon of the activity, Dr. Allen Valdeavilla, Senior Extension Veterinarian of UNAHCO, discussed the common bacterial diseases of swine and African swine fever (ASF). โ—
