The Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON, through its Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), goes on with its weekly procurement activities to ensure that its programs, activities, and services will be implemented in the given time for the benefit of the farmers and other stakeholders in CALABARZON, amidst the enhanced community quarantine measures for COVID-19.
Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Operations and BAC Chairperson Dennis R. Arpia, ARD for Research and Regulations Vilma M. Dimaculangan, along with the rest of the BAC members and technical working group, facilitated the recently concluded opening of bids and pre-bid activities last March 30, 2020 at STIARC Training Hall, Lipa City, Batangas. This activity was carried out with the observance of social distancing protocol and other precautionary measures advised by the Department of Health.
ARD Arpia emphasized the importance of mobilizing the region’s skeletal workforce to reassure farmers and other stakeholders that DA CALABARZON is “service as usual” amidst the pandemic. Furthermore, “It is during this trying time that DA will extend at a greater length, its assistance and services to the ‘backliners’ of the country, farmers, farm and agribusiness personnel, and fisherfolks,” he said.
BAC is mandated to facilitate and provide administrative oversight to all the procurement activities within the agency in order to purposefully carry out the programs, interventions, and services of DA CALABARZON. ● (SDAL, DA-RAFIS)
