Some 50 employees of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV CALABARZON from its different units have undergone a 3-day Training on Basic Journalism and Photography held on November 8-10, 2017 at El Cielito Hotel, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.
Regional Executive Director Arnel V. de Mesa was present during the opening programme of the training. He emphasized that as government employees, the information that are given to the public must be accurate and reliable.

According to Patria T. Bulanhagui, Regional Information Officer, the said training aims to maximize the information production and dissemination of DA CALABARZON’s activities, programs, services, and other relevant information pertaining to agriculture and fisheries.

One of the participants was Alcris Rosita, staff of Livestock Program, said that the training will enable him to effectively cover the activities undertaken by their program.

The resource persons for the training were Camille Victoria Fernandez, News Anchor/Reporter of PTV4 who discussed broadcast journalism; Ricarda Villar, Asst. Professor I from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) College of Development Communication who facilitated discussions on news and feature writing; and Dominic Meily, UNTV Creative Director who discussed photography and photojournalism.

As part of the efforts to improve the information dissemination of DA CALABARZON, Bulanhagui mentioned that there will also be a training on effective layout and design using specific computer software on November 15-17, 2017 at the same venue.
