All Regional Information Officers (RIOs), Public Information officers (PIOs), and Librarians from various attached agencies and bureaus of the Department of Agriculture (DA) gathered for the 1st Semester Consultative Meeting cum Workshop spearheaded by the Agriculture and Fisheries Information Division (AFID) of DA Central Office on July 2 – 5, 2019 in San Juan, La Union.

In her welcome message, DA Region I Officer-In-Charge Assistant Regional Director (OIC-ARD) for Research and Regulations Gloria Parong, a former RIO, said that this meeting is seen as a step in bringing the programs closer to the clientele as well as to the grassroots level, and make known available packages to improve their farming systems through modern technologies.

According to AFID Chief Cheryl C. Suarez, the workshop served as an avenue for them to exchange ideas with other information officers on how to best communicate the different programs of the DA.

Furthermore, Regional Information Officer Patria T. Bulanhagui provided the updates on the on-going communication programs and activities of DA CALABARZON to complement the farmers needed information in the agricultural sector.

Also, several topics including digitalization process and technology for printed information materials were discussed to advance the knowledge of information officers and librarians. • JBGA, DA-RAFIS
