Officials and staff of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. IV-CALABARZON attended the training for updating of the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) using the Juan Magsasaka/Mangingisda Registry System (JMRS) on September 18, 2018 in North Edsa, Quezon City.
RSBSA is essentially a nationwide database of information on farmers, farm workers and fishermen. On the other hand, JMRS is platform which will be used to update the RSBSA data.
According to Operations Division Chief Dennis R. Arpia, it is important that the database of RSBSA is regularly updated for effective implementation of DA’s programs. “The RSBSA helps us ensure that interventions are delivered to its intended beneficiaries”, he said.
Among the resource persons for the training were Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries Deputy Executive Director III and Vice Chair of Department of Agriculture-ICT Advisory Committee John D. Pagaduan and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources – Fisheries Information Management Center OIC Zaldy Perez.
According to the speakers, the JMRS will primarily be used by the LGUs using a
computer or smartphone to register farmers and fishermen in their respective localities for them to easily qualify and avail of various interventions provided by the DA. Actual demonstration of the system using tablets was conducted in order to get some suggestions from the participants to improve the same.
