To better give the public and clientele of the Department of Agriculture (DA) with accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date information about some of its programs, projects, services, interventions, and accomplishments, all Regional Information Officers (RIOs), and Regional Field Office and Local Government Unit Farmcasters in the country gathered together for an assessment and planning workshop, held in Tagaytay City, Cavite on November 5 โ€“ 8, 2019.

Participants learned and were updated with different topics, to wit: 1) Updates on the Compliance of DA to the Provisions of the Republic Act 11203 Implementing Rules and Regulations, 2) Status and Future Directions of Sorghum Industry, 3) Measures to Prevent Fall Armyworm Infestation, 4) Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Agricultural Insurance Programs and Services, 5) Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks), 6) African Swine Fever Updates, and 7) Crisis Management Communications and Strategies. Some issues and concerns about these discussions were brought up and they exchanged ideas on how to best communicate the same, and bring these closer to DA stakeholders.

The four-day event had been productive as the information officers and farmcasters gained additional relevant information through discussions on the latest trends in broadcasting and sharing their best practices about it.

Some 70 participants attended the activity including DA Region IV-CALABARZON RIO Patria T. Bulanhagui and her information officers.
