The Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office (RFO) No. IV-CALABARZON in coordination with Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) RFO IV-A and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) conducted the National Updating and Planning Workshop on Rice Crop Manager (RCM) on March 6-9, 2018 in Tagaytay City, Cavite.

The RCM, which was developed by the IRRI for the Philippines, can be used through desktop computers and smartphones aiming to contribute to the implementation of appropriate ‘modern precision farming’ by providing farmers with personalized crop and nutrient management recommendations matching their location-specific rice-growing conditions.

The said workshop was attended by RCM implementers in the DA and ATI RFOs, which aimed to update attendees on the new advisories on RCM for better implementation thereof.
Assistant Regional Director for Operations Milo delos Reyes welcomed the participants and assured them that the DA CALABARZON will continue to support the RCM to help rice farmers attain precision in their farming to increase their production and income.

During the workshop, the participants reviewed the target activities for 2018, discussed the monitoring, evaluation and learning in RCM, consolidated regional reports, raised some issues and agreed on several terms.
