The Department of Agriculture Region IV CALABARZON Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) recently conducted its year-end review at El Cielito Hotel in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

“RAFIS plays a vital role in providing latest and relevant information regarding agricultural programs, accomplishments, and thrusts of the department to other government agencies, and the public. I am here to support you all the way,” said Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa.

The said workshop aimed to review the accomplishments of RAFIS in 2018, identify issues and challenges usually encountered and address the same, determine ways to efficiently and effectively use available resources, and implement its mandated functions.

Based on the RAFIS’ records, there were about 39,000 pieces of various Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials produced, reproduced, and distributed to different farmers’ groups, local government units, visitors, and individual farmers.

Moreover, radio plugs were aired 7,000 times utilizing local radio stations and 80 “Talakayang Pangsakahan ng CALABARZON” radio episodes were aired.

Angelito Bautista, Jr. of Polytechnic University of the Philippines served as the lecturer during the review.
