Regional Director (RD) Arnel V. de Mesa of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV CALABARZON graced the region-wide graduation of 742 farmers who attended the Farmers’ Field School on Sustainable Pig Farming (FFSSPF) held at Cultural Center of Laguna in Sta. Cruz on June 13, 2018.

In his inspirational message, RD de Mesa challenged the graduates to persistently apply all the the knowledge they gained from the FFS. He also assured the farmers that the DA would support them in terms of production by giving them the right interventions they need.

The FFSSPF is an improved technology and extension modality of the Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH) which was adopted by ATI IV-A within CALABARZON. The FFSSPF aims to enhance the alternative, sustainable, and affordable swine raising technology for commercial and backyard swine farmers, and update their skills and improve their income potential.

Also present at the said graduation ceremony were DA CALABARZON Livestock Program Coordinator Vilma M. Dimaculangan, ATI Officer-in-Charge (OIC)-Director Luz A. Taposok, ATI IV-A Center Director Marites Piamonte-Cosico, and provincial veterinarians in the region.
