The Project Beans from Dasmariñas, Cavite and Gold in Grass Corp. of San Pedro City, Laguna are two of the agri-enterprises from the CALABARZON Region which were given the chance to showcase their products during the 13th Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) on June 12 – 16, 2019 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

This was made possible by the Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON through Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) as one of its endeavors in helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region to have networking opportunities with other food ingredient providers, suppliers, and local processors; and expand both domestically and internationally.

The Project Beans offers premium roasted coffee in a tea bag with Arabica, Barako, Harmony Blend, and Robusta variants. For being selected to participate in this event, its co-owner Ms. Petronila Causing thanked DA-AMAD as they were able to show the whole world what quality coffee really is. And to try out their products, she invited everyone to, “Feel free to drop by our Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Alabang Town Center, and NAIA Terminal 3 branches.”

Ms. Yelena Pelayo, the owner of Gold in Grass Corp. (world pioneer in the production of stable and potable lemongrass hydrosol), was likewise grateful to the Department thus she said, “We are able to introduce our lemongrass drink to numerous guests and exhibitors alike here at MAFBEX…We promise everyone that our product will help you have a better quality of life and permanently break the cycle of increasing medications.” They also offer hydrosols and essential oils of ylang-ylang, citronella, Madre de cacao, lemongrass, and calamansi. Their partner-distributors are Lazada, shopinas, SM City Makati and Megamall Kultura – Go Lokal, selected A Natural Essencia Care Products branches, and many more.

This year’s MAFBEX with the theme, “Experience the Fusion” that the country’s food and beverage (F&B) industry has to offer, featured not only an extensive display of Filipino and foreign F&B products and services but also franchises, food tools and equipment, packaging, raw materials, and point-of-sale (POS) systems. It also highlighted live cook-offs and product demonstrations, and gave free-of-charge and open-to-all seminars. • ARC, DA-RAFIS
